The Ramblers shocked the basketball world this postseason but digging deeper into the shooting numbers, Loyola’s run shouldn’t have been unexpected.
For Loyola, clearly getting into the offense, sharing the ball and creating high-percentage shots in the half-court game was a winning formula.
I also liked how Loyola would utilize the post with a legitimate block threat in Cameron Krutwig. He showcased some old-school, low-post moves that made Loyola’s offense difficult to stop as teams simply couldn’t collapse to stop Krutwig due to how well the Ramblers shot the 3-ball.
And when Krutwig got the ball in close — he converted. It’s why I’m going with a pair of post player drills today to place a focus on your bigger players who still can be a force on offense if you let them in today’s perimeter-heavy game.
